This zip files contains the HWI and schemas associated with the default ASM-1 schema. It provide all of the typical functionality that is normally associated with an alarm notification and acknowledge appliance.
Installation Instructions
Create a folder and unzip all of the files into that folder. Open ASM-1.hwi in Design Pad v4.5.230 or higher.
General Overview of Functionality
Setup
In the HWI Module Variable Settings screen, set bChannelxEnabled (where x is 1 to 10) to true to indicate the associated alarm input channel is active; set to false to deactivate the associated alarm input channel.
Operation
Each active channel will be monitored by the ASM-1 module to be in one of the following states:
- Alarm Inactive (no wiring faults)
- Alarm Active (no wiring faults)
- Open (circuit wiring is open)
- Short (circuit wiring is shorted together)
- Positive Chassis (the positive leg of the circuit is shorted to chassis)
- Negative Chassis (the negative leg of the circuit is shorted to chassis)
The State of each channel can be determined by observing the 'State' LED associated with the channel:
- Green: Alarm Inactive
- Red: Alarm Active
- Amber: Wiring Fault (Open, Short, Positive and/or Negative Chassis)
- Off: Disabled
- Blinking: Change of State Occurred
In addition, the red POS and/or red NEG GND FAULT LEDs will activate if there are any channels with a Positive and/or Negative Chassis Fault.
When any channel switches between any of the above States the change must be acknowledged by the operator. Any channel that has a blinking 'State' LED requires the operators attention and acknowledgement.
If any channel has an unacknowledged Alarm Active or Wiring Fault (i.e. any 'State' LED is blinking Red or Amber) both digital outputs will activate. It is anticipated that these outputs attach to external visual and audible devices.
Each channel can be in one of the following modes:
- Normal: Channel monitoring is enabled
- Cutout: Channel monitoring is disabled (i.e. associated process is down for maintenance, etc.) The 'State' LED is deactivated when a channel is disabled.
- Standby: Channel monitoring is enabled and the last Alarm Active or Wiring Fault condition was acknowledged
User Interface
- Press the up and down arrows to select the channel to operate on. The 'Select' column of LEDs will show the current channel selected by illuminating the associated LED.
- Press the 'Mode' button to change the selected channel between Normal to Cutout, Cutout to Normal, or from Standby to Cutout.
- Press the 'Ack' key for less then 5 seconds to acknowledge the condition on the currently selected channel. If the channel is in alarm, the mode of the channel will transition to Standby when acknowledged.
- Press the 'Ack' key for more then 5 seconds to acknowledge the condition on all channels.
- Press the 'Test' button to perform a lamp test.
