NIM-7 Interpreting the System Status and Network Activity Lights

NIM-7 Interpreting the System Status and Network Activity Lights

If the NIM-7 is configured for Slave Mode, interpret the LEDs as follows:

System Status LED

  • 1Hz Red == NIM-7 PROFIBUS co-processor is waiting to load firmware

  • 5Hz Red == NIM-7 PROFIBUS co-processor is downloading firmware

  • Other Red Flash == NIM-7 PROFIBUS co-processor hardware error detected

  • Green == Cyclic data exchange in progress

  • 5Hz Green == No cyclic data exchange

  • Other Green == Faulty configuration or waiting for NIM-7 main processor to respond

  • Off == No schema / network configuration loaded or no power

Network Activity LED

  • Green == Configured and exchanging data with a master

  • Red == Application program not synchronous with the network

  • Off == Slave has not reached the data exchange state yet

If the NIM-7 is configured for Master Mode, interpret the LEDs as follows:

System Status LED

  • 1Hz Red == NIM-7 PROFIBUS co-processor is waiting to load firmware

  • 5Hz Red == NIM-7 PROFIBUS co-processor is downloading firmware

  • Other Red Flash == NIM-7 PROFIBUS co-processor hardware error detected

  • Green == Cyclic data exchange with at least one slave in progress

  • 5Hz Green == Ready for data exchange, no connection to any slaves

  • Other Green == Faulty configuration or waiting for NIM-7 main processor to respond

  • Off == No schema / network configuration loaded or no power

Network Activity LED

  • Green == Master has the token and is functioning

  • Flashing Green == Master is sharing the token with other masters on network

  • Red == Cannot communicate with one or more slaves or short circuit on wiring detected

  • Off == Not configured or cannot obtain token for network
