The PCM-1 called Demo 1 in Figure 15.6 below demonstrates the Design Pad G4 simulation capability and shows the module's inputs and outputs. Every PCM-1 has four analog inputs, two digital inputs, four analog outputs and 2 digital ones. The analog inputs and outputs tolerate signals of between 0 and 20 mA. The digital inputs and outputs carry a simple on or off signal.
In the demo simulation PCM-1 Demo 1 is programmed to display a constant, 2112, and blink that number if digital input 2 is on. That input also turns the bottom LED green. Analog input 3 controls the input to the other part of the schema, which squares the number represented by the power applied to analog input 3. 4 mA is interpreted as a zero in this demonstration.
The input equivalent is displayed in the top numeric display, and its square is displayed below it. If the square is odd, digital output 2 turns green. Analog output 1 displays the square up to 20 mA.
