Error Codes

Each of our products will report errors in the form of a blinking red status LED. The status LED will operate as follows:

  • If the STATUS LED is blinking green then the device is operating properly and there is no User Application / Schema loaded.
  • If the STATUS LED is steady green then the device is operating properly and it is executing a User Application.
  • If the STATUS LED is blinking red then the device has experienced an error. To determine the error the operator can use a local configuration device to communicate with the device (i.e. Design Pad or Schema Viewer) or can monitor the LED ‘blinking pattern’ to discover the active error code(s) as follows:
    1. Wait for a long pause between LED blinks (to find the start digit),
    2. Count the number of slow LED blinks to determine the first digit (slow blinking is also an indicator of the first digit),
    3. Wait for the short pause to complete,
    4. Count the number of fast blinks to determine the second digit,
    5. Wait for the short pause to complete, and
    6. If there is a third digit, count the number of fast blinks.

For example, if the error code is 246, the LED pattern will be long pause, two slow blinks, short pause, four fast blinks, short pause, and six fast blinks. If multiple errors are present at the same time, each error code will be displayed in a round-robin fashion with a long pause between error codes.
