You may communicate with the hardware via two methods. The first is via your computer's serial communications port using a serial cable or Infrared wand. For devices which support Ethernet, you can elect to communicate over that channel.

Both of the options are selectable on the toolbar or the Communications menu. On the toolbar, the Ethernet communications button is circled; the serial button is just to its left. When either is selected from the menu the corresponding button is shown as pressed.

Note: If a Chameleon NIM-2 module is physically located in the node as the right-most active module (i.e. the master of the node) then all of the communication functions available via IR also become available over Ethernet . If the NIM-2 is not the right-most module, only the firmware update communication option is available.
