Managing Multiple Versions of Design Pad

Many new systems utilize multiple versions of Design Pad to design and program systems that utilize Fairmount Hardware.  A common example are systems that use our TS-1 Touchscreen (requires G5) in tandem with our legacy Chameleon product line (designed using G4).  For cases such as this adhere to the following:

  • Maintain separate folders on your computer (titled for each version on design pad) for each Design Pad Version. This way, when the different application versions are installed you are able to keep them uniquely identifiable, even if you have to move the folder    after install
  • Be sure to only open and save files with the version of Design Pad they were built with. For example, if you are working with a TS-1, then you will use G5.  Be sure not to open and save any G4 built files or workspaces (i.e. a PLC node), otherwise it will be saved in a G5 format, and no longer be able to be opened with G4.
  • Be sure that the license file for the application is either in the C:\WINDOWS directory, or in the directory of the application executable files themselves
